Former Archbishop Spalding start Cam Whitmore dunks during his senior season with the Cavaliers, as he was named the Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year of a second consecutive season. After a one-and-done campaign at Villanova University, Whitmore was selected with the 20th overall pick in the first round the NBA Draft, by the Houston Rockets, Thursday night.

Hammond outside hitter Safi Hampton has emerged as one of the top high school volleyball players in the Baltimore area and has twice been an All-Howard County first team selection. She has committed to play for North Carolina and hopes to play professionally in Europe after her college career ends.

Oakland Mills’ Trevin McHargh and Reservoir’s Maggie Frisvold are our Howard County Spring Sports Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
Maggie Frisvold was again domimant for Reservoir softball Tuesday evening. The UMBC recruit pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12 as the top-ranked Gators advanced to the Class 3A state title game with a 4-0 victory over Southern Maryland's Huntingtown in a state semifinal match at Bachmann Park in Glen Burnie.
