Kirk McKoy is the photo editor for The Baltimore Banner. Originally a native of Charleston, S.C., Kirk grew up in the DMV area and graduated from the University of Maryland. Before returning to Maryland, Kirk worked for the Los Angeles Times for 34 years as an editor and photographer covering mostly the entertainment industry. His photos from the Los Angeles Riots and the Northridge Earthquake, led the Pulitzer Prize-winning entry for the Los Angeles Times. Kirk was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalist’s Hall of Fame in 2021. In his free time, you can find him drawing and painting, doing wood working, biking and hiking.
