A child was hospitalized and five other people were injured in a house fire Wednesday morning in Dundalk.
Police were dispatched around 3:45 a.m. to the 3000 block of Dunleer Road, according to Baltimore County Fire Lieutenant Twana Allen.
Inside the house, firefighters found an 8-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries. The child was treated on scene by EMS and taken to an area hospital. A man and four additional children escaped the fire with injuries and were taken to local hospitals by EMS.
During search efforts, crews also rescued nine cats and two dogs from the home. In total, the fire displaced seven residents.
When they arrived, they found flames showing from the front and side of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
