As the death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria surpasses 21,000 people, Baltimore area nonprofits, charities and businesses are looking for ways to support victims. Here’s an ongoing list of how you can lend your support.

Ammoora
Jay Salkini, owner of Ammoora in the Inner Harbor, pledged to donate 10% of all the restaurant’s proceeds to international nonprofit organizations that help Syrian and Turkish people who are affected by the aftershocks.
“Our roots originated in Syria, and our mission when opening Ammoora was to introduce to Marylanders the love and generosity of the Levantine community by showing its culture, cuisine and hospitality,” according to the restaurant’s press release.
International Orthodox Christian Charities
This Baltimore-based charity is working with partners in Syria, and emphasizes the need for blankets, pillows and other bedding, and warm clothing as temperatures are below freezing. The organization is asking for monetary contributions.
Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Relief Services have partners both in Syria and Turkey that are collecting donations to send to the Anatolia region, one of the affected areas. They are also asking for monetary donations.
All Hallows Parish
This Episcopal church in Anne Arundel County is sending monetary donations to a charity in Turkey that also helps Syrian refugees. All proceeds will go directly to aid refugees. Those who want to donate should contact the church by phone or email.
Lutheran World Relief
This nonprofit in Federal Hill is asking for monetary donations that will fund hygiene kits, coats, blankets and baby care kits. Fred McCray, the organization’s senior director for humanitarian operations and other members of the team, will eventually travel to Turkey to provide further assistance.
