The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says its detectives are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man who was found unresponsive at the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center Sunday morning.

Correctional officers found the man, whom authorities have not not identified, unresponsive around 6:30 a.m., according to the public safety department.

Central booking staff “immediately began lifesaving efforts,” public safety spokesman Mark Vernarelli said in a news release.

The man had been held at the facility since July 1, Vernarelli said.
