A 29-year-old woman was arrested over the weekend and charged with murder in the killing of her sister, who was fatally stabbed after a wedding they both attended, according to charging documents.

Brianna Jarrells, of Greenbelt, left a wedding with her sister around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and went to a third person’s house in the 5600 block of Wilkens Avenue in southwest Baltimore County, according to charging documents and police.

The sisters got into a “minor argument” that escalated over the evening, according to court records. Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jarrells said she wanted to go home, and she and her sister went to her sister’s vehicle.

The person whose house they were hanging out at turned away after the sisters got in the car and started walking back to the house, when he heard the victim repeatedly say “oh my god,” according to court records. He saw her collapsed on the ground and saw blood.

The sister was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and pronounced dead, according to the court records. Jarrells and the witness, meanwhile, were taken to Baltimore County Police Headquarters.

Around 3:13 a.m., Jarrells, while in an interview room at headquarters with an officer, asked if her sister was OK, according to police.

“I know it’s real, I actually used a utility knife. I never actually tried, I pinned it up to her as a warning,” she said, according to court documents.

When a detective arrived to interview Jarrells, she declined to be interviewed. The detective told Jarrells her sister died, and she said, “I thought I just nipped her,” and began crying, according to the court records.

Investigators found a yellow utility knife near where her sister was found, according to the charging documents.

Jarrells is being held without bond and is represented by a public defender who declined to comment. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 20.
