Baltimore police are investigating the shooting death of a woman who was found dead in East Baltimore hours into the new year.

Officers responded at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of a Shot Spotter alert in the 700 block of North Glover Street, police said in a social media post. Upon arrival, the officers found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Police on the scene learned that a 31-year-old man had walked into an area hospital with an apparently non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man had also been shot at the residence at 700 North Glover Street, police said.

Homicide detectives urge anyone with information to call 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

The New Year’s holiday weekend had already been marred by other incidents of violence.

A 7-year-old boy was shot in the head and killed inside a West Baltimore rowhouse just after 5 p.m. Friday. Police said an 18-year-old male who was also in the residence was questioned and underwent an emergency psychological evaluation.

The boy’s death marked the city’s 333rd homicide in the calendar year. There were 334 homicides in 2021.

Police on Friday evening also responded to a triple shooting in the 1300 block of North Carey Street that left one man dead and two others injured. Officers found an unidentified male shot in the torso. The victim was taken to Shock Trauma, where he later died, police said. A second male victim was also shot — his condition was not known Friday evening — and a third victim was found with gunshot wounds to the legs, which were deemed non-life-threatening.

In Prince George’s County, meanwhile, authorities said they were investigating a “domestic-related incident” that left two adults dead Sunday.

County police responded to a report of a shooting around 6 a.m. in Clinton. A third adult and a juvenile were also injured, though police didn’t yet know the extent of their injuries.

Maj. David Blazer said in a statement on Twitter that while a gun was used at the scene, he could not say whether all of the victims had been shot. Police were seeking to establish a suspect or suspects as well as a motive.
