One person is dead and a second injured after a shooting at a candlelight vigil for former Minnesota Vikings cornerback and Maryland native Khyree Jackson, who died with two others in a car crash a week ago.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, the shooting took place around 10 p.m. Friday at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro. Jackson and Anthony Lytton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel, the two friends who died with him, played football for and graduated from Wise High School.

After receiving initial reports of a shooting, police arrived at the high school and found a man and woman with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital.

Police say the woman was listed in stable condition while the man was critically wounded. Shortly after, police confirmed via X that the man was pronounced dead. The identities of the man killed and injured woman were not released as of Saturday afternoon.

No one had been arrested as of Saturday afternoon.

Jackson was selected in April’s NFL Draft by the Vikings in the fourth round after he played college football at Alabama and Oregon. Lytton played at Florida State and Penn State and Hazel played at Maryland and Charlotte.
