If you’re anything like me, you probably stayed in most of the past week to escape the snow and frigid temperatures.

But there are plenty of fun events this week in Baltimore County that could tempt you to brave the cold, from a boat show to basketball games. Here’s seven things that are happening in Baltimore County this week.

Boat Show

The Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County is hosting the Chesapeake Bay Boat Show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Come check out more than 300 boats on display, from fishing boats to ski boats, and 100 exhibitors. The boat show also features live music, fishing gear exhibits and seafood tastings. The show starts at 10 am Friday and ends at 5 pm. Sunday. Admission tickets are $12-15.

Towson U. basketball

Towson University’s women’s basketball team is playing Monmouth University in the TU Arena at 2 p.m. Friday. General admission tickets cost $14.40. The Tigers’ men’s basketball team plays Northeastern University at 7 pm. Thursday. Ticket prices start at $12.35.

UMBC basketball

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s women’s basketball team is playing the New Jersey Institute of Technology at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena on the Catonsville campus. Admission ranges from $6 for UMBC faculty and staff to $10 for the general public. UMBC students can see the Retrievers play free.

A world-renowned guitarist

Acoustic guitarist Luca Stricagnoli will display his unique fingerstyle techniques in a solo guitar performance at The Gordon Center Theater in Owings Mills from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at around $33.

Elvis Presley Birthday Bash

Celebrate Elvis Presley’s 90th birthday with live music from Elvis tribute artist Jesse Aron and other performers at American Legion Post 30 in Dundalk at 2 p.m. Sunday. There also will be a special guest who will impersonate Marilyn Monroe. Tickets cost $35.

Books and conversation

The Baltimore County Public Library’s Cockeysville Branch is hosting a books and conversation session where people can share thoughts and ideas about their favorite book from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The event is free.

Finger painting

Frozen yogurt shop sweetFrog Dundalk is hosting a finger paint party from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday. Bring your kid and make something worthy of hanging on a fridge. Tickets, which include a kid’s cup of frozen yogurt, are $10.
