A Pasadena man is behind bars and faces charges after an explosion in Glen Burnie on Wednesday.

Greg Smith, 63, was charged with manufacturing, possessing, using and transporting a destructive device, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. He was also charged with willfully and maliciously setting fire to and burning an occupied structure.

Local and federal agencies responded to the explosion around 2:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Ordnance Road after several business owners called 911 to report hearing a “boom”, authorities said.

County fire department officials said Wednesday the explosion did not cause any fire or damage to the building and, although there were people in the building, no injuries were reported.
