We’re at the end of Spooky Season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate one last time. Not that long ago, I asked readers of The Scan to send me pictures of their pets in Halloween costumes — and everybody delivered.

Winston as Winifred Sanderson

I’m told by Hannah Klarner, Winston’s owner, that this costume was actually a child’s size medium, not a pet-specific get-up. I think it’s amazing.

Ruthie as a Beanie Baby

As someone born in the mid-’90s, I was obsessed with Beanie Babies in my early childhood. This outfit for Ruthie, with the iconic heart-shaped tag, unleashed an absolute flood of nostalgia.

Nurah as toast

Nurah gets bonus points for putting up with a costume that looks like it’s as big, if not bigger, than she is.

Lācītis as Chewbacca

I mean, how can you not love a giant Newfoundland dressed up as everyone’s favorite Wookie? My inner geek is delighted.

Elber Macaroni as Maverick

Getting a dog in a costume is a feat in and of itself, so I am especially impressed by getting a dog to pose and wear sunglasses.

Posey and Greta as Spider Dog and Wonder Dog

Look, I’m a sucker for superhero movies. And a sucker for cute dogs. So this is a great combination. No notes.

Zeke as Super Dog

I won’t repeat myself about superhero movies, but I will say that Zeke looks absolutely stunning in his cape, and he’s got the sweetest looking eyes.

Louis as a lion

While his owner tells me Louis can have an “occasional” mean streak, I would never believe it from looking at this photo. While a bit hard to see under his glorious mane, those eyes look perfectly innocent to me.
