BALTIMORE — The body of an elderly woman was recovered from a marina in Baltimore County on Wednesday morning, shortly after her SUV was found submerged, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Maryland Park Service rangers were notified that a white SUV was submerged near the boat ramp of Dundee Creek Marina in Gunpowder Falls State Park around 8 a.m.

“The vehicle was submerged in the water completely, about a foot of water was above the vehicle’s roof,” said Maryland Natural Resources Lt. Kevin Kelly. “We could not determine if anybody was inside the vehicle.”

The vehicle was towed from the water and no one was found inside, according to officials. However, shortly afterward, a body was found slightly outside the marina basin, officials said. Police said they checked the license plate and found the connection.

“The license plate on the vehicle comes back to a missing persons report filed with Baltimore County Police last night,” Kelly said.

The body was identified as a 73-year-old woman from Perry Hall, according to Maryland Natural Resources police.

Officials believe a medical emergency played a role in the incident and said no foul play is suspected.

The marina has resumed normal operations.
