A pedestrian died and five people were injured Wednesday night after two vehicles crashed into an East Baltimore building, causing it to partially collapse, police said.
Officers attempted to investigate a stolen vehicle just before 9 p.m. when the driver took off and crashed into a second vehicle. Both hit a building at the intersection of E. North Avenue and N. Wolfe Street, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
The building buckled after the car crashed into it, the firefighters union said.
A 54-year-old man was pulled from the rubble and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Five people in the two vehicles were injured during the crash and taken to area hospitals for treatment. Their condition was unknown as of early Thursday morning.
