New details are emerging about the domestic dispute at a Rosedale apartment on Christmas Eve that left a child dead.

The Baltimore County Police Department confirmed on Thursday that the father of the child who died is the suspect in the deadly shooting and is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A woman and another child were also hurt in the shooting that unfolded around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ross Ridge Apartment Homes. Police identified the woman as the mother of both children.

All three remain in stable condition, police public information officer Detective Anthony Shelton said on Thursday. He also confirmed the man is the father of both children.

According to Shelton, detectives are still investigating what led to the fatal shooting on Breslin Court and will determine what charges, if any, to bring against the father, whose name will be released once he’s been formally charged.

Details, such as the victims’ names, are not being released at this time, but the children were under 10 years old, according to Shelton.

Jamie Black, who has lived on the top floor of the three-story building since July, said on Tuesday another downstairs neighbor scrambled upstairs that morning when they heard shots.

“The woman who got shot … knocked on my neighbor’s door. She answered and she waited in there until [police] came,” he said. “We can’t even get a break on Christmas Eve!”

The shooting, which happened in a residential nook of Rossville Boulevard by a church and senior home, comes a week after Baltimore County was rocked with a shooting in Towson that killed one and injured nine others.
