How to submit letters to the editor

The Baltimore Banner welcomes feedback from our readers via email at letters@thebaltimorebanner.com. Letters should meet the following guidelines.

Submission guidelines

To be considered for publication, letters should be:

  • 350 words maximum.
  • Exclusive to The Banner (i.e., should not be simultaneously submitted or posted elsewhere).
  • Original work of the author, not created by AI or other tools.
  • A response to something published in The Baltimore Banner within the last seven days (please note the story you are responding to), topical community issues, and content relevant to our audience.

Please be sure to include your:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address (for verification only; we will only publish your town/city)
  • Any financial or personal interest related to the subject of your letter
  • Supporting factual information and/or links to support your opinion

Publication process

We regret that, due to time constraints, we cannot reply to all submissions. If your letter is under consideration for publication, we will contact you via email.

By submitting your letter, you are giving us permission to publish it.

All letters are subject to fact-checking and editing for style, accuracy, length and clarity, while always striving to maintain your stated views and opinions. When possible, we will confer with you about edits to your letter before publication.

We will contact you via email to let you know when your letter is published.
