Dare I say, fall weather is here to stay? The cool crisp air each morning suggests it’s time for fall activities. And if you agree, you’re in luck, because some fall events are beginning to pop up in Howard County.
Manor Hill Brewing is releasing its fan favorite pumpkin brew on Friday, and Clark’s Elioak Farm is opening its annual pumpkin patch on Saturday.
If you’re not ready for fall just yet, there are still plenty of non-autumnal activities to do in Howard County over the next week. From seeing The National at Merriweather Post Pavilion to playing late-night mini-golf, here are some things to do for the week ending Sept. 18.
Kygo at Merriweather
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., show begins at 7 p.m. Thursday
Known for hits like the cover of “Higher Love,” “Firestone” featuring Conrad Sewell and “It Ain’t Me” featuring Selena Gomez, Kygo is bringing his talents to Merriweather Post Pavilion Thursday night.
Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, whose stage name is Kygo, is a Norwegian DJ who was born in Singapore. He gained international attention with “Firestone” and his remix of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire.”
Opening acts include Sam Feldt and Forester. Late last month, Kygo released a new album, KYGO (The Remixes), which features Sam Feldt and Forester on a few songs.
Tickets are available for all sections of Merriweather, starting at $31.80 for lawn seating. Prices include fees.
Midnight Mini-Golf at Columbia SportsPark

Are you 21 and older and looking for something fun to do on a Friday night? Grab some friends and check out Midnight Mini-Golf, a monthly event just for adults.
Hosted by the Columbia Association at the Columbia SportsPark, this monthly event draws a large crowd. Besides playing mini golf, folks can get competitive over lawn games and enjoy food and beverages.
The food truck this month is PhoWheels.
The theme is Go Team, so come decked out in your favorite sports team’s gear.
Purchase tickets in advance for $15. There are a limited number of tickets available at the door.
Pumpkin ale release at Manor Hill Brewing
Friday, Manor Hill opens at 4 p.m.
Hearing about Manor Hill’s annual pumpkin ale release made me think about the first Thanksgiving episode of the show “New Girl,” in which Justin Long guest stars. His character Paul Genzlinger loves a pint of pumpkin ale.
Manor Hill’s seasonal ale is called Prized Pumpkin. Since its debut two years ago, it has become a brewery favorite. Starting Friday, Prized Pumpkin will be available on draft and in cans.
The brewery is also going to sell local pumpkins, while supplies last.
Pumpkin patches at Clark Elioak’s Farm
Saturday, the farm opens at 10 a.m.
Not a fan of beer but want pumpkins? You’re in luck. Clark Elioak’s Farm is opening its pumpkin patch for the season on Saturday and there will be pumpkins galore. Pick from large pumpkins, mini pumpkins, gourds, bumpy ones and white ones.
Also opening on Saturday at the farm are the straw bale mazes and fall-themed photo op areas.
And of course, apple cider will be available for purchase and enjoyment.
Sunday farmers market in Columbia
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday
Looking for sweet treats for the week ahead? Or freshly baked local bread? Perhaps fresh microgreens or apples? You can find all this and more at the Sunday farmers market in Columbia.
Many stalls are local, including from Ellicott City, Glenelg, Clarksville and Columbia.
This Columbia market runs every Sunday through Nov. 3. It’s located at 5851 Robert Oliver Place.
The National and The War on Drugs at Merriweather
Gates open at 5:15 p.m., show begins at 6:45 p.m. Monday
Two American rock bands — one from Brooklyn and one from Philadelphia — are joining forces at Merriweather Post Pavilion Monday night.
The National, which formed in 1999 in New York City, put out two albums in 2023: “First Two Pages of Frankenstein” and “Laugh Track.” This month, The War on Drugs released a live album called “Live Drugs Again.”
Supporting the two bands’ “Zen Diagram Tour” is Lucius, an indie-pop band.
Tickets are currently available for all sections of Merriweather, starting at $52.85 for lawn seating. Prices include fees.
Beer run at Manor Hill Tavern
5:30 p.m., Tuesdays
Love running and beer? Meet at Manor Hill Tavern’s beer garden Tuesday evening for a run and a brew or two.
The group meets by 5:30 p.m. before heading out on the Trolley Trail for a 3.7-mile run. When back at the tavern, runners can enjoy a free beer.
