Hakeem Simms ran for two touchdowns and sophomore quarterback Malik Washington added a rushing score as Archbishop Spalding (8-1) remained perfect in MIAA A Conference play (5-0).

Simms broke free for a 49-yard score in the second quarter to cap a quick three-play drive after Loyola had to close to within 7-6. He added a 10-yard score early in the fourth quarter to complete a 85-yard drive.

Washington scored on a quarterback sneak with 3:37 left in regulation. Jameson Coffman added a two-yard touchdown run.

Sophomore quarterback Brad Seiss threw touchdown passes to Ezra Carter (19 yards) and Zach Phillips (38) for Loyola (3-5, 2-3 MIAA) and sophomore Kendrick Worthington added a 65-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The loss pushed the Dons into fifth-place as the top four teams will qualify for the A Conference playoffs.

The Cavaliers have secured the No. 1 or 2 spot. They will play at No. 3 Mount St. Joseph (5-0 MIAA A) Saturday afternoon, with the winner claiming the top-seed.

Junior quarterback Winston Watkins threw for two touchdowns, and Greg Roman added a defensive score as Mount St. Joseph (7-2) cleared its final hurdle to a first-place showdown with Archbishop Spalding next weekend.

Watkins threw scores to senior Tre’ Goodrige and Avery Jones as the Gaels built a 21-7 halftime lead. Roman, a junior, returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown.

Bryce Cox added a rushing score for Mount St. Joseph, which hosts the No. 2 Cavaliers in a matchup of only unbeaten teams (both 5-0) in MIAA A play. The winner will get the top-seed and a home semifinal match Nov. 11th or 12th.

Carson Pettibon threw two touchdown passes and Nick Golini returned an interception for a score as St. Mary’s (9-0) completed MIAA B Conference play with a victory at St. Paul’s.

Pettibon, a senior transfer from Gonzaga (D.C.) hit Casey Smith from 48 yards for the game’s opening score in the first quarter. The Saints (6-0 MIAA B) recovered a St. Paul’s fumble at the hosts’ 32-yard line, leading to a six-yard score by Pat Cary for a 14-0 lead in the opening period.

In the second, Golini, a defensive back headed to Navy for lacrosse, intercepted Crusader quarterback Luke Bair and went down the sidelines for an 80-yard touchdown, extending the St. Mary’s lead to 21-0. Mason Ferrara got St. Paul’s (2-6, 0-5 MIAA B) on the board with a two-yard touchdown run before Andrew Marshall connected on a 32-yard field goal for Saints, ending the first half.

Pettibon found Cole Menshaw from eight yards in the fourth quarter. The Saints play at  Severn School in the squads’ annual season-ending rivalry Friday afternoon.

Tristan Kenan rushed for two touchdowns, and Dunbar (9-0) recorded three defensive scores in its victory over Edmondson to retain the Ben Eaton Memorial Trophy and complete a second straight undefeated regular season.

Josh Fedd had a fumble recovery in the end zone, Shantron Monroe returned an interception for a score and Anthony Campbell returned a fumble for a touchdown for Dunbar, which extended its winning streak to 23 games. Savion Witherspoon and Jabre Griffin each added rushing scores.

The Poets have won 13 of 15 battles for the Eaton Trophy, named after former Dunbar coach who died of a heart attack before the 200whe7 season. Dunbar will begin its defense of the Class 2A/1A state title with a North Region second round contest in two weeks.

Sean Williams rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns, and Deshawn Purdie tossed four touchdown passes as Milford Mill (9-0) completed the program’s third undefeated regular season.

Purdie, a junior, threw for 267 yards as senior Daysen Shell caught three passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. David Diggs (87 yards) and Corey Jones had touchdown receptions.

It’s the first perfect regulars season for Milford Mill since 1999 when it reached the Class 3A state semifinals. The previous undefeated regular season was Milford Mill’s lone state championship (Class C; finished 13-0) season in 1987.

The Baltimore County school, which lost the 2A state final last year, will host a North Region opening round match next weekend.
