Cal Ripken Jr. has accomplished nearly everything in his baseball career — he’s a Hall of Famer-turned-team-owner who holds the Major League Baseball record for consecutive games played.

Now he has one more honor to add to the list: Ripken will serve as the guest splasher in the Splash Zone on Sept. 6, the Orioles announced, as a way to commemorate the 29th anniversary of passing Lou Gehrig’s Iron Man streak.

Since the Bird Bath’s inception last year, the Orioles have welcomed several guests to serve as Mr. Splash. Team control person David Rubenstein, former outfielder Adam Jones, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett have all served as the guest splasher, spraying Section 86 near the bullpens with water for Orioles extra-base hits and runs scored.

Ripken will join those ranks for a Friday night game against the Tampa Bay Rays, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
