The Ravens kept running back Keaton Mitchell on the physically-unable-to-perform list and placed cornerback Arthur Maulet on injured reserve Tuesday, sidelining them for at least the first four weeks of the season.

Mitchell, who averaged 8.4 yards per carry and rushed for 396 yards as a rookie, is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in December. He was placed on the PUP list to start camp and was not cleared to practice. Initially expected to return this December, Mitchell is considered ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation and could make a midseason comeback. Derrick Henry and Justice Hill will lead the Ravens’ running back room in his absence.

Maulet, one of the stars of offseason workouts and the opening weeks of training camp, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this month. He could be ready to return soon after his IR window expires. The Ravens have solid depth to replace Maulet in the slot, where cornerback Marlon Humphrey and safeties Ar’Darius Washington and Kyle Hamilton all have good experience.

Running back Owen Wright, who was in the running to back up Henry and Hill, was placed on season-ending IR after suffering a foot injury in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers. Undrafted rookie wide receiver Isaiah Washington, undrafted rookie Inside linebacker Deion Jennings, cornerback Trayvon Mullen and defensive back Christian Matthew were also placed on season-ending IR.

Rookie running back Rasheen Ali, who’s been sidelined for much of the past two-plus weeks by concussion symptoms, was not placed on IR, clearing the way for the fifth-round pick to contribute early this season.

The Ravens’ first four games are against the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills. They face the Cincinnati Bengals on the road in Week 5.
