Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was not practicing Monday, four days after he took several big hits in the team’s season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jackson was at the facility Monday for the team’s Picture Day obligations but was one of five Ravens missing at the team’s first practice since its Week 1 game. Wide receiver-returner Deonte Harty, outside linebackers Kyle Van Noy (eye) and Adisa Isaac (hamstring) and cornerback Nate Wiggins were also sidelined.
“We had a number of guys that weren’t out there — some personal, some physical,” coach John Harbaugh said. ”Injury report comes out Wednesday afternoon, so you’ll be better advised on that day regarding all those guys.”
Jackson played every offensive snap in the Ravens’ 27-20 loss to the Chiefs and didn’t appear bothered by injury in his postgame news conference. His 16 carries for 122 yards were his most since 2021. Early in the second quarter, Jackson lowered his shoulder to deliver a hit near the sideline. He didn’t shy away from contact later in the game, either.
“Lamar always impresses me,” Harbaugh said. “He doesn’t really surprise me, because I guess we’ve seen it so much, and it’s just been a gift to Baltimore and to the Ravens and to all of our fans and all of us. But being there in there with him every day, I recognize how much it means to him, how competitive he is, what kind of a fighter he is. I mean, this guy wants to win. He wants to make plays. He wants to lead his team. That’s what I saw on Thursday night.”
Jackson is believed to be playing this season at his lowest weight since he arrived in the NFL. He played last season at around 215 pounds.
