Miracle on 34th Street takes place annually on the 700 block of 34th Street (between Chestnut Avenue and Keswick Road) in Baltimore's Hampden community. Started back in 1947, the same year that its namesake movie debuted, the display involves the residents of most of the houses on the block (three-story rowhouses on the north side of the street and two-story ones on the south side). The Light traditionally beging to appear the weekend after Thanksgiving and lasts through December. The display features Christmas lights, decorated trees of varying styles, trains, animated figures, cartoon characters, Hanukkah menorahs, artwork, and other various symbols of the holiday season. The location is a major attraction for visitors from all over the Baltimore area.

The shooting deaths of five people at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado has been unsettling for Ron Legler, the president of the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center. Legler was a founding co-owner of Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, that was the site of the deadliest mass shooting at an LGBTQ establishment in this country’s history.
