Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott married fiancee Hana Pugh in a surprise ceremony Sunday at Walther Gardens.
The nuptials were posted to the social media platform X by Scott’s chief of staff, Marvin James, and earlier reported by The Baltimore Sun. Afro News shared photos of the wedding in a post on Facebook.
Spokesperson Bryan Doherty said Scott and Pugh exchanged vows in a small, private ceremony officiated by Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
“The Mayor’s Office is thrilled for the newly married couple, and we know the entire City of Baltimore will join us in wishing them congratulations as they celebrate with loved ones at the beginning of this joyous union,” Doherty said.
Scott, 40, revealed on social media in July 2023 that he was expecting his first child with Pugh. “Baltimore Baby Charm is on the way,” the mayor posted then.
On Christmas Day, Scott announced on Facebook that the pair had become engaged. Charm was born the following day.
Scott had not brought a partner into the spotlight during his mayoral tenure but made several public appearances with Pugh last spring and summer, and since then the pair has regularly posted about their experiences together.
Pugh is operations director for Bmore Empowered, a nonprofit that offers programming for Black girls and women, along with administrative and accounting support to Baltimore nonprofits and women-owned businesses.
Pugh has a 7-year-old son from a previous marriage. The family lives in Scott’s home in Hamilton that was purchased last summer, along with Madam Scarlet, a long-haired calico cat, and Lord Grogu, a Yorkie mix.
