Abby Zimmardi is a reporter covering Howard County for The Baltimore Banner. She was an investigative reporting fellow for The Banner and joined the newsroom in January 2023. Zimmardi earned her journalism master’s degree from the University of Maryland in December 2022, and her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas in 2021. She has reported on worker safety and illnesses in Arkansas' meat-packing industry as a data reporter, evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, education, reproductive justice, criminal justice and Maryland’s 2022 gubernatorial race. Zimmardi’s reporting and data visualizations have won regional and national awards. She is a native Texan and has lived in Maryland since 2021. When she is not reporting, you can find her museum hopping, watching scary movies and always drinking a cup of coffee.
