Samuel Manas

As newsletter writer, Sam authored The Scan, the Baltimore Banner’s free daily email newsletter. He previously worked on email newsletters at The Conversation and The City NY. He’s also worked as a reporter covering local politics and government, federal regulators and Congress. Born in Brooklyn, MD, Sam grew up in Anne Arundel County and then studied English and sociology at UMBC. After living in Baltimore for a few years, he moved to Missouri for graduate school before moving back to Maryland in 2020.
