Moore and Lt. Gov.-elect Aruna Miller will be sworn into office during a ceremony at noon on Jan. 18 at the Maryland State House in Annapolis. An inaugural gala dubbed “The People’s Ball” will follow that evening at the Baltimore Convention Center.

D-Nice, whose career goes back to the 1980s with the New York hip-hop trio Boogie Down Productions, gained renewed fame during the early months of the coronavirus pandemic, hosting massively popular sets on Instagram Live. He recently performed at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023″ at the Disneyland Resort in California.

“The People’s Ball is a chance for Marylanders to come together and celebrate this historic moment. And I’ll bring the music!” D-Nice said in a statement issued by the inaugural organizers.

D-Nice and Moore have a history: In January 2022, D-Nice was featured at a “More to Do in ‘22″ new year kick-off party for Moore’s campaign.

Tickets for The People’s Ball sold out of the initial allocation of 8,000 tickets, and organizers had to open up an overflow ballroom at the Convention Center. They’re now selling “Second Stage” tickets online for $125, with promises that Moore, Miller and their families will migrate between the two spaces.

The Democratic team of Moore and Miller sailed to an easy victory in November’s gubernatorial election over Republican nominee Dan Cox and his running mate Gordana Schifanelli.
